Albert Park is a beautiful place in our community. With facilities for dozens of sporting clubs, and green space for the public to get out and touch grass, it’s an invaluable asset to the people who live in the inner south.
But every summer the community gets locked out for the benefit of a corporation – to run the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Every summer, sporting facilities have to close, teams are disrupted, and the general public can’t wander this magnificent green space freely, while the Grand Prix corporation tears up the park and locks the community out for an exclusive, disruptive racing event.
Now, Victorian Labor wants to change the laws so the Grand Prix corporation can disrupt the park for even longer every year.
The community in the inner south has put up with these massive disruptions for long enough. Labor needs to stop locking the community out of Albert Park!
